Standardized Diagnostic Techniques — order trainer

SDT is procedural. The OSCE marks step order, not just step presence. Drag each step into the sequence you would actually do at a slit-lamp or in biometry — we’ll grade you against the ICO/BCSC canon.

Slit-lamp anterior segment exam

Standard sequence for adult anterior-segment biomicroscopy. Out-of-order steps lose marks even if every step is technically correct.

  2. 2.Goldmann tonometry (after fluorescein) — both eyes
  3. 3.Wash hands; clean chin-rest and forehead-bar
  4. 4.Narrow direct-focal beam: lashes → lids → conj → cornea (5 layers)
  5. 5.Instil fluorescein, cobalt-blue filter, recheck cornea (TBUT, defects)
  6. 6.Document findings; clean equipment; thank patient
  7. 7.Van-Herick angle estimate; check for AC cells/flare
  8. 8.Iris detail and lens at the slit; document any opacities
  9. 9.Greet the patient, confirm name & DOB, explain the procedure
  10. 10.Position patient: chin on rest, forehead against bar, eyes at canthus mark
